SMAN-2 Palangka Raya Wins 2 Gold Medals in WICE Competition
Hysterical screams and happy cries exploded in the MAN 3 Magetan computer laboratory, Tuesday (26/9/2023) at around 09.00 WIB. Those who were immersed in the happy atmosphere were members of the MAN 3 Magetan young research team and teachers who were mentored for the first international gold medal at the WICE event in 2023.
Reporting from UNIB's official website, the World Invention Competition and Exhibition (WICE) is an international competition for talented young researchers who are active, creative and innovative. WICE 2023 was attended by more than 400 participants with various research categories to choose from.
Starting in early July, after receiving information from teachers about the WICE 2023 competition, the young research team of MAN 3 Magetan prepared to come forward to represent the madrasa.
MAN 3 Magetan sent a team as a representative consisting of five students. They are Ragil Ayu Satiti (XII MIPA 2), Yuyun Nur Musliha (X11 MIPA 2), Zahra Nurfitriani (XII MIPA 1), Lava Nasta Meika (XII IPS 3), and Mutia Ramadhani (XII IPS 2).
By choosing the Applied Life Science category and with the title "The Utilization of Lumbricus Rubellus earthworms for soil enrichment", the young research team of MAN 3 Magetan succeeded in bringing the name of the madrasah in Panekan District to the international arena.
The point of the research topic carried out is the use of lumbricus earthworms for the manufacture of vermicompost or earthworm compost for soil fertility. Thorough preparation for three months is carried out from research on worms to application to plants.
The results of this research are expected to be able to provide benefits for the Magetan community, which are mostly farmers or plantation owners. With the use of lumbricus worms that are cheap and easy to apply, it will be able to help plant yields become better.
"Because, Magetan which is on the slopes of Mount Lawu with fertile soil, it is very unfortunate if the use of agricultural land is not carried out optimally," said Ragil Ayu Satiti, one of the members of the research team explaining the purpose of the study.

This proud gold medal achievement is the first step for MAN 3 Magetan to become a madrasah that is able to compete internationally. "I really hope that this achievement can motivate MAN 3 Magetan students to not be afraid to try, willing and ready to compete, ready to become winners, and make the name of the madrasah proud and be able to inspire others," added Ragil Ayu Satiti, leader of the MAN 3 Magetan young research team who won WICE 2023.
