MAN Demak wins WICE 2024 gold medal in Malaysia

The Research Team of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Demak was able to show their achievements at the prestigious WICE 2024 event by winning the Gold Medal of the World Invention Competition and Exhibition (WICE) 2024 in Malaysia, Tuesday (24/9/2024).

This international science competition takes place in Selangor, Malaysia, on September 21-25, 2024. WICE 2024 is organized by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA) in collaboration with the Malaysian Allied Health Sciences Academy (MAHSA). The event is a global platform for brilliant young minds to showcase their discoveries in various fields such as science, innovation, technology and commercialization. The WICE IT and robotics category saw 126 teams from 15 countries participate.

Head of Madrasah H. Nur Kamsan, S.Ag., M.Pd. who accompanied the MAN Demak research team conveyed encouraging news to all the big family of MAN Demak through a group WA message on the achievements of MAN Demak students, “Alhamdulillah, the MAN Demak Research Team won thegold medal (gold winner) at the WICE 2024 event in the IT and Robotic category from 126 teams from 15 countries,” he said.

The team consisted of Mufi Ahmad Baehaqy XII-1, Bagus Hadlim Aqil XII-1, Eny Zuliyanti XII-2, and Mentari Farikhanaila XI-6. The four students not only made Demak Regency, but also Central Java Province and Indonesia proud at the international level. They managed to become one of the best teams with an applied science project entitled: “Satfis: Solar Powered loT Technology for Sustainable Fish Farming Management”. During their research and competition, they were mentored by Dra. Hj. Muni'ah, M.Pd. and Muhammad Adib Ubaidillah, S.T.

“This success is a testament to the ability and dedication of MAN Demak's research team in developing science-based inventions that benefit fisheries. Hopefully this brilliant achievement will inspire them to continue working,” said Muni'ah. The head of MAN Demak's BSC-RISET program Qoim Rohmawati, S.Si., M.Pd., also expressed her pride for the success of her students' delegation.

“The children have shown that through hard work, collaboration and dedication, they are able to compete internationally,” he said. “We hope this achievement motivates other students to continue pursuing their dreams and developing their potential in science and technology. MAN Demak's BSC-Research class always supports every innovative step taken by students,” he added.

Kamad added that the award was the result of the performance of the entire MAN Demak team, which has been working optimally. “So let us work together to give the best for this madrasah that we love. Hopefully this will be a good start in my leadership, in terms of achievements that can make MAN Demak proud,” he concluded.
